This dataverse consists of linguistic data (in the form of audio files, videos, transcriptions and translations) collected on the Northern Sangtam language (ISO 639-3: nsa), an Indo-Burmic language spoken in the Longkhim-Chare sub-division of Tuensang District, Nagaland, Northeast India. The data was recorded in Nagaland during field trips made between 2011 and 2013 and includes the following three datasets:

AC4-20110704_NSA1 : ca. 900-item transcribed word list and accompanying sound files of a 66-year-old native speaker of Northern Sangtam.

AC4-20130615_NSA2 : transcribed word list and accompanying sound files of 6 native speakers of Northern Sangtam aged between 28 and 47 years. These are compared to the transcriptions of a 66-year-old speaker to demonstrate the extent of intergenerational sound change.

AC4-20130711_NSA3 : videos and accompanying transcriptions of 2 native speakers of Northern Sangtam demonstrating the articulatory characteristics of various speech sounds, with the main focus falling on the prestopped bilabial trill.
