The coded data are derived from the following version of the collected transcriptions from the Talk Together Study: BLIP-TTS-VCST_Prelim-T1-Transcripts_v0.0.1 (Corpus of transcriptions currently under embargo while research is ongoing) Stage 1. Coders first identified all instances of Mental State language in the speech of the parent, for all transcripts where the parent spoke in English or a mix of English and Mandarin Chinese. Each event was coded into 3 categories (Cognition descriptions; Perception/Attention descriptions; Emotion descriptions) and 2 types (simple; clarification) based on a coding scheme adapted from Slaughter et al., (2007). Stage 2. The collection of events identified in Stage 1 was then subjected to further specialist coding of the following features: a. Cognition and Perception/Attention descriptions b. Emotion descriptions Notes: Some updates have occurred in the process of specialist coding which may not be reflected in the full collection of mental state events. Some parents were excluded from the current sample for their use of non-target languages including Burmese and Malay Current Status: Preliminary Coding complete for the following groups of parents: • English monolingual and English/Chinese bilingual parents • T1 of the Talk Together Study V2 of the files represents a secondary release of the data, with redaction of extraneous data, formatting for consistency, and non-proprietary file formats in line with the principles of FAIR data archiving.</description> </descriptions> <contributors><contributor contributorType="ContactPerson"><contributorName>Styles, Suzy J</contributorName><affiliation>(Nanyang Technological University)</affiliation></contributor></contributors> </resource>
